Marriott Bonvoy 5th Anniversary Party at Marriott Headquarters – Feb 2024

After expressing interest from a general public notice in the official Marriott Bonvoy Insiders group, I received a confirmed invitation to the Marriott Bonvoy 5th Anniversary Party at Marriott Headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. The invite only event occurred on February 22nd, 2024 and was held at the Marriott Bethesda Downtown at Marriott HQ. The hotel is next to Marriott International Headquarters – the properties share a courtyard between the buildings, named after former CEO Arne M. Sorenson. Tracking Marriott Bonvoy Points and Qualifying Spend With Excel

Using EXCEL To Track Your Stays & Earnings I started tracking my spend in 2018 – I had some missing points and spend, and at that time Points Advance was available, so I used my spreadsheet to forecast our travel and earned points, based upon known work travel. It’s been through a few modifications since then, and still works well for me to track my annual activity. I mark rows and cells in different colors to highlight them for myself. Our 2023 Bonvoy Redemptions While we spent fewer nights on Leisure Travel in 2023, we were able to find some great redemptions throughout the year. As with all my redemptions and cash reservations, I regularly review them to see if the price has lowered. Booking Nov 2023 Travel with Rewards Points and Monitoring Redemption Costs

We’re heading to Phoenix in November – we already have a 5 night points stay booked, and I’ve been looking at options for nights 6 & 7 before we leave. Now that Points Advance is no longer available, I’ve been booking/modifying/changing stays while my points balance grows through work travel. I’ve been checking locations and rates once a week or so. We started out at the Marriott PHX Airport for 66,000 points, changed that to the Westin Downtown for 89,000 points and a few days ago found 2 nights at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass for 83,000 points. Marriott’s Grand Chateau – Points Booking

I surprised MaureenTravels tonight with a trip to Vegas to see Adele for our anniversary. We’re staying at the Marriott’s Grand Chateau, Las Vegas again. We like this location for its lack of a casino, free valet parking, ease of access to the strip and the options when booking a room on points. There are usually a few room options to choose from on points – given it’s a vacation property – and sometimes there are some good points saver rates. To me it’s a no brainer to go with the 850 sq. foot 1 bedroom villa. I just checked the rate again tonight, and shaved 5,600

My Last Marriott Bonvoy Points Advance Reservation

Long Live Points Advance RIP Points Advance, I loved the flexibility you offered. It’s the end of an era – this is my last Points Advance reservation, that I’ll be covering this week when my 125,000 point Sign Up Bonus posts. I liked the flexibility that PA Reservations allowed. I don’t subscribe to the theory that abuse was rampant – although I do understand how it was possible before the the changes a couple years ago, when some hard limitations came into the system.
