We’re heading to Phoenix in November – we already have a 5 night points stay booked, and I’ve been looking at options for nights 6 & 7 before we leave.

Now that Points Advance is no longer available, I’ve been booking/modifying/changing stays while my points balance grows through work travel. I’ve been checking locations and rates once a week or so.

We started out at the Marriott PHX Airport for 66,000 points, changed that to the Westin Downtown for 89,000 points and a few days ago found 2 nights at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass for 83,000 points.

I’ve had a couple other locations on my list including the Westin Kierland (136K) and the JW Marriott Camelback (126K). They’ve been out of my current available points range, but last night I did another search and a LOT of Phoenix area properties have reduced points costs – at least for the week of Nov 6th. Even The Phoenician has reduced by 16,000 points over 2 nights down to 140,000 points.

Needless to say, I cancelled our stay at the Sheraton Grand Wild Horse Pass, and moved us to the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa for 96,000 points – a 30,000 point reduction over a few days ago.

I’ll add another 30,000 points to my points bank this week – which could move us to the The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa, although we’re not golfers and we’re just looking for a couple days of relaxation and maybe some hiking.

The property does have quite a few SNA options available, so I’m going to apply 2 for the stay. I do expect to have the 2023 Ambassador spend covered by then, so I expect to b back to Ambassador status during the stay as well.
