We traveled to the Phoenix area this week for the NASCAR Championship weekend and staying in Glendale again for the first 5 nights – changing it up this year and staying at the https://www.facebook.com/renaissanceglendale instead of the nearby Residence Inn. While the RI (and many hotels) are close to the Westgate Entertainment District, the only Marriott properties “on the grounds” are the Renaissance and ALoft.

We like this area as it’s close to the race track, has many hotel choices, and plenty of food and entertainment options in Westgate for the time we’ll spend there. It will be nice to be able to just walk to everything this year from the hotel, instead of driving or ubering.

I reserved a King room for 162,000 points back in Dec 2022 when the cash cost of the room was $2,400 for 5 nights. Today the cash cost of a King room is nearly $4,900 – doubling my redemption value from .015 to .031!

To make it even better, when looking at my reservations today – I see I was already upgraded to a 1 bedroom, 2 room King suite. NICE – that’s a sweet, suite upgrade 5 days out without using SNA’s. I can’t see how this increases my redemption value as this room is not available for booking on the website, but I’ll count this as another win for #AmbassadorStatusMatters 😃

It appears, from an introductory email I received today along with some online reviews, that the hotel is undergoing renovations/refurbishment. No one ever really compliments the disturbance during a hotel reno, and we’ll be away at the track most days, so I’m hoping it will not be too bad or intrusive during our stay.
