I’ve wanted to stay at the Winter Haven Hotel, Miami Beach, Autograph Collection for a while, but could never hit the rate right. During Night 4 of my 5-night Miami hotel hop in late June 2024, the rates on South Beach dropped into an accessible window on a member rate, and I jumped at the opportunity.

I really loved this hotel, the authentic South Beach Art Deco vibe, and the check-in was FANTASTIC. A glass of chilled champagne offered as you walked in, a warm towel to clean up and refresh after traveling, and an amazing, polished front desk experience.
Room 502: 5th-Floor Ocean Drive & Park View King
I booked a base King room on a member rate and was upgraded to Room 502, a top-floor King room directly overlooking Lummus Park, Ocean Drive, and the Atlantic beach dunes beyond.
- Living Space: The room, complete with a walk-in closet, was well sized, featuring a nice small seating area, in-room coffee machine, and a reasonably priced mini-bar.
- Bathroom & Shower Dimensions: The bathroom, while elegant and impeccably styled in keeping with 1939 Art Deco architecture, is tiny. The shower measures roughly 6x8 feet—you definitely don’t stay here for a cavernous shower, but the water pressure was solid and the bath amenities were premium quality.
Dining at Il Bolognese: Table-Made Tiramisu
I ate both Dinner and breakfast at the hotel’s street-level restaurant, Il Bolognese. Both meals were very good.
Dinner included savory Italian meatballs, homemade fettuccine bolognese cooked to perfect al dente texture, and a decadent dessert course.
My server, Bruno, was fantastic. He offered great menu guidance throughout the evening and crafted my dessert tableside: fresh table-made Tiramisu. I’ve never had table-made Tiramisu prepared right before my eyes before, and it is something you definitely should order when you visit!
The Verdict
The Winter Haven captures everything that makes Ocean Drive legendary—historic 1930s Art Deco architecture, prime park-facing views, and thoughtful hospitality touches like champagne upon arrival. Paired with Bruno’s exceptional dining service at Il Bolognese, this was a standout stay in the Autograph Collection portfolio.
