We recently spent 9 nights at the W Los Angeles - West Beverly Hills on Hilgard Avenue—wrapping up an intense 50-night, 9-hotel Marriott marathon that began in Miami on March 15th.

W Hotels are typically well outside corporate travel per-diems. Prior to arrival, I opened the Marriott Bonvoy app and saw a welcome notification: our entry-level booking had cleared an automatic upgrade to a 727 sq ft, 2-bedroom Fabulous Suite (Room 522). After more than 40 continuous nights living out of suitcases across the country, securing a genuine residential suite was an incredible relief.

During our stay, the hotel’s front entrance was undergoing extensive modernization to reconstruct the exterior entry ramp and architectural staircase. The construction team was finishing up work as we departed.

Despite the temporary disruption, the valet team delivered the best valet operation I have experienced in the last couple of years. While the main ramp was closed, the valet attendants tirelessly carried guest luggage up narrow stairs at the temporary street entrance without complaint. Their speed, staging accuracy, and warm demeanor were world-class.

One of the most practical innovations in this 727 sq ft suite is the full-size fold-down Murphy bed engineered flush into the living room accent wall. Deployed with balanced ease, it converts the living parlor into a completely independent second bedroom with integrated reading lights. 5. The $50/Person Breakfast Credit & The Outdoor Pool Reality

Choosing the Ambassador Elite welcome amenity at W Los Angeles is a financial no-brainer: always take the breakfast credit over the 1,000 points.

With elite status, the hotel provides a $50 per person daily breakfast credit ($100/day for two). This credit is critical because breakfast pricing here is substantial:

• On days Maureen dined solo, the $50 credit absorbed the meal.
• Over the weekend when we dined together, breakfast averaged $120 for the two of us (French Toast and an American Breakfast platter with coffee and tea).

Had the $50/person Ambassador credit not been available to knock the out-of-pocket cost down to ~$20, we likely would have dined at off-property Westwood cafes.

The Outdoor-Only Breakfast Reality

A crucial operational quirk that travelers must understand: breakfast is served exclusively in the outdoor pool bar area (WET Deck). The hotel does not offer breakfast inside STK or an indoor dining room.

On warm, sunny Southern California mornings, dining poolside is idyllic. However, during our stay, two weekend mornings were cold, damp, and rainy—making an outdoor-only breakfast setup distinctly uncomfortable. Front desk agent Joe wisely provided recommendations for nearby indoor breakfast cafes for guests seeking a warm morning venue.

While typical luxury leisure rates frequently push the property beyond standard corporate per-diems—sending us back to the Beverly Hills Marriott for our next assignment—this 9-night stay proved that when pricing aligns, the W Los Angeles is a premier home base for discerning road warriors.
