The Daytona, Autograph Collection is hands-down one of our absolute favorite hotels in the United States. Located inside the ONE DAYTONA entertainment complex directly across West International Speedway Boulevard from Daytona International Speedway, it offers the ultimate motorsport hospitality experience anywhere in North America.

After spending five relaxing nights on the beach at the Delta in Daytona Beach Shores during Coke Zero Sugar 400 race week in August 2022, we wrapped up our Florida trip by coming back to The Daytona for one final night before flying home to Connecticut.

As I posted on Facebook on the evening of August 29:

The Speedway Balcony Perspective

We were upgraded to a high-floor King room featuring a deep, covered private balcony that faces directly toward the speedway. From the railing, you have an unobstructed view of Bass Pro Shops Outpost, the ONE DAYTONA avenue, and the Toyota gate entrance leading into the Turn 4 tri-oval grandstands.

The covered balcony design is ideal for Florida weather, keeping you completely shielded from afternoon summer showers while letting you take in the open air and the hum of race-week energy.

Dinner & Smoked Cocktails at the Blue Flame Bar

For our final evening in town, we headed downstairs to the second floor for drinks and dinner at the property’s signature lounge, the Blue Flame Bar.

As I posted on Facebook later that night:

The atmosphere at Blue Flame is automotive luxury at its finest. The curved bar is made of polished grey marble, surrounded by comfortable leather barstools. Even better, parked right in the open lobby behind the lounge tables are authentic historic race cars, including vintage stock cars and IMSA road racers.

The design details at the bar are pure gearhead art. Overhead, circular exhaust ring light fixtures cast a rich blue glow over the bar counter. The draft beer towers are custom-built from giant, full-size engine pistons.

The cocktail program here is top-shelf. When you order their smoked cocktail, the bartender brings out a wood smoking kit and traps aromatic wood smoke under a heavy glass cloche bell jar right before your eyes.

When the glass dome is lifted, the smoke rolls across the marble bar top, releasing the aroma of toasted oak and vanilla into your Old Fashioned.

Room Comfort, Bed Quality & HVAC Performance

After an evening at the Blue Flame, retiring to the room confirmed why this property remains a staple in our rotation:

• Bedding & Ergonomics: The custom platform king bed features crisp high-thread linens, an embroidered DAYTONA winged emblem, and excellent mattress back support.
• Acoustics & Isolation: Even with West International Speedway Boulevard right across the way, the heavy sliding balcony doors provide impressive acoustic isolation when closed.
• HVAC Thermostat Bench: The climate control unit ran quietly and maintained our preferred 64°F sleep bench continuously throughout the humid Florida night without temperature surging.

Final Thoughts

The Daytona, Autograph Collection proves how great a themed hotel can be when it is executed with genuine passion and authenticity. Instead of generic motorsport cliches, the hotel celebrates the true heritage of speed with real cars, clever industrial design, outstanding cocktails at the Blue Flame, and unmatched views across to the track.

Whenever we are anywhere near Daytona Beach, this is where we stay.
