Ambassador Elite Folio Verdict
"A reliable 3-night winter stay locked in on a $75 AAA membership rate, delivering a spacious split-bathroom suite layout, well-stocked hot breakfast with UDI's gluten-free muffins, and a 2009 physical plant that looks brand new."

I spent three nights at the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Grand Forks, North Dakota in late February / early March 2024. For Marriott Bonvoy travelers in Grand Forks, options are limited to this SpringHill Suites and an adjacent Fairfield Inn. I had previously stayed at this SpringHill Suites six years earlier, and returning in 2024, it was exactly as I remembered: clean, solid, and dependable.
1. AAA Rate Strategy & $75 Membership Payoff
“I spent 3 nights at the Springhill Suites, Grand Forks ND this week. Marriott options in Grand Forks are limited to the Springhill Suites and a Fairfield Inn. I stayed at this Springhill Suites 6 years ago and it’s exactly as I remembered.
I booked a King room on a AAA rate for this stay, as it was the best rate. I consistently find AAA has the best rates - AAA is well worth the $75 annual fee for the Marriott savings alone.”

The rate savings on this single three-night reservation more than covered the entire $75 cost of the annual AAA membership.
2. Suite Architecture & Traditional Split Bathroom
“The room was typical Springhill with the split bathroom - not like the newer/remodeled hotels that have a typical bathroom layout with the toilet, shower and sink in the same space.
I’ve never been a fan of the Springhill Suites brand, but I also have no complaints or negatives about this hotel and stay. The room is well sized, offering a good sized desk, clean fridge and microwave, a trundle bed couch, good sized desk, a newer 50” TV, comfortable bed and a decent shower.”

The split-bathroom configuration—with the enclosed commode separate from the vanity and shower—provides functional utility when sharing a suite, and the work desk alcove easily accommodated full laptop setups for remote work.
3. Gym, Indoor Pool & Hot Tub
“The hotel has a small gym with 2 treadmills, 2 ellipticals, some weights, cowbells, mats and rollers. Not a big gym, but still useful. It was actually well used during my stay. I don’t have any photos because of that. There is also an indoor pool and hot tub that were in good condition - I made use of the gym, pool and hot tub during my stay.”
In the sub-zero winter temperatures of Grand Forks, having an indoor heated pool and hot tub to soak in after a day on site was a huge asset.
4. Breakfast Buffet & Gluten-Free Offerings

“Breakfast was a standard offering for this brand segment and was well done. The hot plate offerings varied each morning, were well stocked/maintained and better than some lounge offerings in some full service Marriott’s I’ve stayed at.
The buffet included a juice station, a good oatmeal hot station, yogurts and such, fresh fruit, waffle station, breads and UDI’s gluten free muffins. Coffee and Tea were only available during breakfast hours, but well maintained.”
5. Staff, Service & Field Verdict
“I did not have housekeeping during my stay - I think they are on an every 3 day schedule, but I was able to get a fresh set of towels from housekeeping when I asked. My experience with all the staff was great.
In talking with the front desk upon check out, I learned that the hotel was built in 2009. The hotel does not feel or look like it’s 15 years old.
Overall a very good stay in Grand Forks.”
A clean, comfortable, and reliable base for any traveler visiting Grand Forks.
