Ambassador Elite Folio Verdict
"Unexpected roadside breakdown turned into an exceptional hospitality stay with an unprompted 6th-floor suite upgrade, early Club Lounge access, and shared campus dining."
Executive Summary & Roadside Disruption
I had some unexpected stays this past weekend and early part of the week due to a mechanical breakdown of our brand new, 19-day-old ‘22 VW Tiguan with only 1,086 miles on it. As a result of having our car towed off the highway, we spent 5 nights at two different properties at BWI Airport.
After spending our first 2 nights at the BWI Airport Marriott, we moved over to the Sheraton Baltimore Washington Airport Hotel - BWI for what was originally scheduled to be 2 nights, but ended up turning into 3 nights when car repairs stretched through midweek.

Arrival, Early Check-In & Titanium Elite Recognition
I booked a standard King room the same morning using a AAA rate, securing an average nightly rate of $138/night. My wife Maureen and I arrived early around 1:30 PM.
While there were no guest rooms officially ready that early in the afternoon, the front desk agent was remarkably accommodating: she immediately handed us a keycard to the Sheraton Club Lounge so we could relax, grab cold beverages, and comfortably wait while housekeeping finished preparing rooms.
Spacious living room featuring comfortable sectional seating, coffee table, and executive desk.
Dedicated workspace and hospitality console inside the 6th-floor suite.
Less than an hour later, as we walked back through the lobby, the front desk agent recognized us and called us over to let us know a King room on the 6th floor was ready.
She proceeded to check me in, and after a quick glance at my still Titanium status, and after hearing about our car breakdown roadside nightmare, she smiled warmly and told me to hold on just a moment while she adjusted the room assignment.
I had a very good feeling I knew what she was doing. That intuition was confirmed the second we opened the door: she upgraded us into one of only two suites on the entire 6th floor. If floors 2 through 5 are configured in the identical footprint, that puts the entire hotel at only about 10 suites total!
We were initially only planning on two nights, but our Tiguan was not ready by end of day Tuesday, so we gladly extended for a third night in the suite.

Suite Ergonomics & Room Quirks
The 6th-floor suite was fantastic—generous square footage, dedicated living and dining space, and excellent climate control. We only had two minor operational quirks to note (and no, these aren’t really complaints, just genuine field observations):
- Scald-Hot Water Telemetry: The domestic hot water was exceptionally hot! We actually had to run the faucet for a couple of minutes with the handle pegged all the way over to the coldest setting just to draw cold water up to a tempered level.
- Showerhead Configuration: The bathroom shower would benefit from an adjustable showerhead with a separate handheld wand, like so many recent Marriott brand renovations feature. It wasn’t an issue for me, but Maureen’s thick, curly hair definitely would have appreciated a handheld wand.
Clean granite vanity and illuminated mirror in the private suite bath.
Modern walk-in glass shower enclosure.
Sheraton Club Lounge & On-Site Dining
Aside from using UberEats for a few lunches while working, we ate breakfast and dinner on property:
- Sheraton Club Lounge: The Club breakfast was completely adequate. I wouldn’t pay extra out-of-pocket for it, but it was a solid, typical domestic Club/Lounge breakfast spread with eggs, meats, breads, and coffee. Evening hors d’oeuvres were also standard lounge fare—good for a light bite and quiet drink.
- On-Site Restaurant & Bar: Dinner in the Sheraton bar/restaurant was good. The menu is relatively compact and standard hotel fare, but food quality and portion sizes were solid.
The Sheraton Club Lounge provided a quiet working environment and evening snacks.
Refrigerated beverage coolers and snacks available for eligible elite guests.
Dining Next Door at The Westin BWI
On our third evening, we walked across the shared campus over to The Westin Baltimore Washington Airport - BWI, which occupies the adjacent building on the same physical property.
Dinner at the Westin was noticeably superior to the Sheraton’s restaurant, offering an inventive, Asian-inspired menu with dishes like Lettuce Wraps, Wings, and the house specialty Flor De Luna cocktail. Pricing was essentially comparable to the Sheraton—and in a few instances, actually less expensive.
We originally considered staying at the Westin BWI, but I needed a reliable space to work on Monday and Tuesday mornings, and the Westin’s Club Lounge was closed. I had initially planned on working out of the Sheraton Club Lounge, but with the fantastic 6th-floor suite upgrade we received, I was able to work comfortably right from our own living room!
