Ambassador Elite Folio Verdict
"A fascinating status case study: newly minted Titanium status unlocked a massive 7th-floor Corner 1-Bedroom Suite (double the booked rate), while Gene's prior Ambassador Elite stay yielded an iconic 18th-floor East River and Brooklyn Bridge panorama."
Executive Summary & Field Verdict
1st stay after dropping to Titanium this year. My last stay as Ambassador was at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott and was very good — my review is elsewhere in the group.
I’m staying tonight, on short notice, at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge — just about 11 months to the day that I stayed here as Ambassador. I booked the room this afternoon, using a corporate rate that has a nightly rate of about $330/night for a “standard” King room.
I checked in on the app right after booking the room, packed my bag and drove in from a couple hours away. Check-in went great and the FDA was very friendly. I was thanked for being Titanium, informed that I was upgraded to a 1-bedroom suite and was given 2 bottles of water. That was nice, I wasn’t really expecting an upgrade but hey #suiteupgrades.
The stunning East River and Brooklyn Bridge vantage captured from Gene’s Ambassador Elite stay on the 18th floor.
The Suite Upgrade: 7th-Floor Corner 1-Bedroom Layout
The upgrade is to a corner room on the 7th/top floor in the shorter side of the building. It’s a very large room, and a Fantastic upgrade. It’s 1 of 2 of these suites on the floor of 60 rooms.
I didn’t ask for an upgrade and looking at the app while posting this, the price of this room is about twice the price of the room I booked a couple hours ago. The room doesn’t really have a view except of other buildings and windows — but I mean, it’s the city and the 7th floor. No complaints here.
Spacious living salon in the 7th-floor Corner 1-Bedroom Suite, featuring sectional seating and expansive windows.
Lounge sofa and executive workspace in the main suite living parlor.
Corner window angles bringing natural city daylight into the suite.
Flat-panel entertainment center with ample storage cabinets.
Separated king master bedroom offering complete acoustic privacy from the living parlor.
Plush king mattress dressed with crisp white linens and bedside reading lights.
Double closet storage and full-length dressing mirror.
Polished bathroom vanity with back-lit mirrors and premium bath fixtures.
Modern tile walk-in shower with high-flow water pressure.
Titanium vs. Ambassador: The Tale of Two Stays
The last time I was here 11 months ago for 1 night, I stayed using the same corp rate and had a nightly cost about $50 cheaper.
At that time as an Ambassador Elite, I was upgraded to a much higher floor (18th floor) with a view of the water and the Brooklyn Bridge. The room had fantastic views, but wasn’t much of a room category upgrade. It was a King room with a large L Couch and small table, but nowhere the size of the room I have tonight.
The breathtaking view of the East River, Brooklyn Bridge, and Lower Manhattan towers from the 18th floor.
Another panoramic look from the high-tower Ambassador stay overlooking Downtown Brooklyn and the East River spans.
So far #TitaniumStatusIsNice, but I think if you’re looking for a high floor upgrade with the great views, in my personal experience, #AmbassadorStatusMatters here.
Wellness, Gym & The 4-Lane Lap Pool
I did take a look at the gym, it’s well equipped. The hot tub is open as is the 4 lane lap pool.
I was shocked that they had a lifeguard on duty at 8:30 PM. I can’t remember the last time I saw a lifeguard at a hotel pool. He was VERY bored!
The rare 4-lane indoor heated lap pool with marked lanes and lifeguard stand.
Heated deck area with lounge seating surrounding the indoor pool.
Extensive fitness center with treadmills, ellipticals, free weights, and strength machines.
Bar Dining: Apple/Pomegranate Bread Pudding Saves the Night
I had a burger with sweet potato fries at the bar — I wouldn’t get the burger again. The apple/pomegranate bread pudding 100% made up for the weak burger.
The evening bar burger served with sweet potato fries.
The decadent apple and pomegranate bread pudding that stole the show at the bar.
Atmospheric lobby lounge with plush seating and central cocktail bar.
Soaring Greatroom atrium welcoming guests into the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott.
Quiet 7th-floor corridor leading to the short-wing corner suites.
