For this trip, I found another nice special rate available on the Marriott website. The promo was/is the Sip and Save—which includes the room, two drinks at the hotel bar (any drink), a gift from the concierge that I did not stop by to get, and a discount in the retail shops. The rate with just the two bar drinks included was actually less than an equivalent room-only rate, so that was a nice rate perk.

The Double Upgrade: From Base King to 17th-Floor Suite
After checking in on the Marriott Bonvoy app, I saw my room was initially upgraded to a Club Level room.
Then later in the day, I was upgraded again—this time to a 1-Bedroom Club Level Suite.
Separate master king bedroom with crisp Marriott bedding and dedicated television console.
This put my room on the 17th floor, exactly one floor below the excellent Club Lounge (M Club) on the 18th floor.
The room is great and a fantastic upgrade from the base King room I originally booked. Once again, elite status recognition pays off.

Being on the 17th floor provides an ideal balance: you are insulated from the higher elevator foot traffic of the 18th-floor lounge, while being just one quick flight of stairs away from morning coffee and evening appetizers.

The separate parlor provides a real dining/work table, comfortable seating, and a dedicated workspace. The acoustic glazing easily silences jet approaches along Century Boulevard, making it an ideal pre-flight retreat before transcontinental travel.

I received a very nice welcome gift in the room.
Substantial welcome basket loaded with premium snacks, chips, waters, and treats.
It was quite a basket of goodies, and gave me some great snacks for the 6-hour flight back to the East Coast!
