Spent 2 nights in Philly, sandwiched between 4 nights in Glassboro, NJ and 3 nights in Owings Mills, MD as part of a 9-night road trip.
I stayed at the Le Méridien Philadelphia, which is in the old YMCA building at 1421 Arch Street. Booked a AAA rate for an Executive King Room. As with all my stays over this 9 night stretch, the hotel was sold out mostly from graduation events, but there were also some sporting events in town this weekend too.

Arrival, Early Check-In & Center City Setting
I did arrive early (around 1:30 PM), and the FDA was able to get me into the room category I booked. I didn’t ask for an upgrade, and was happy to get a room early on a busy, sold-out weekend.
The hotel is really centrally located to downtown, although most of the hotels are also. I walked around on Saturday, finding plenty of things to do. I’m thinking about a weekend trip back with Maureen and staying at The Notary Hotel next time.

6th-Floor Exterior Executive King Room
My room was on the 6th floor, on the outside (not facing the inner courtyard) and I did have a view of JFK Plaza aka Love Park. The room was decent sized, good enough for a weekend — and large enough had Maureen been with me.

Crucial Tip: Exterior vs. Interior Courtyard Rooms
There is a decent gym, along with a unique interior courtyard that got a lot of use during the weekend I was there.
I am with others that have said they would not like rooms that were on the courtyard level — having windows facing the courtyard. Looking into a busy public atrium ruins your natural privacy and daylight. If you stay here, request an exterior-facing room on an upper floor to look out over the city streets instead.

The hotel does not have an executive lounge, but does have a bar and restaurant in the lobby. I chose points as my welcome amenity, and had a good breakfast, and had dinner at the hotel both nights.

Joe was a great bartender on Friday & Saturday night. He gave those of us at the bar towards closing a good bar game:
