Back in May 2022, while wrapping up a spring trip to Daytona, I took a drive down South Atlantic Avenue to scout out properties for our upcoming summer trip during NASCAR race week. I pulled up right to the beachfront ramp at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Daytona Beach Oceanfront to look at the layout, parking, and beach access.
As I posted on Facebook on May 7:
“Heading back home on this beautiful sunny day. I took a drive by the beachfront hotel we’ll be staying at in August to check it out today.”

That scouting run paid off completely. In late August 2022, Maureen and I spent five nights here during Coke Zero Sugar 400 race week at Daytona International Speedway. The stay exceeded our expectations in every way.

Every single room at this property faces the ocean. We were assigned an upper-floor King room that offered completely unobstructed 180-degree views of the coastline.
The room layout is clean, bright, and coastal-casual. It featured a king bed with a light wood headboard, a comfortable royal blue lounge chair with a side table, a dedicated desk area, and wide glass sliding doors opening onto the balcony.

Stepping out onto the balcony in the morning with a cup of coffee to watch the sunrise over the Atlantic Ocean was the best possible way to start the day.

Right past the pool, a private security gate opens directly onto the beach dune walkover. Within 30 seconds of leaving your room elevator, your feet are on the famous hard-packed white sand of Daytona Beach Shores.

Dining & Evening Atmosphere at Club Caribe
The on-site restaurant and lounge, Club Caribe, handles breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The indoor dining room has warm wood-paneled walls, modern pendant lamps, and high-top community tables leading directly out to the outdoor patio.

The outdoor patio deck is the social heartbeat of the property. Paved in stone pavers and nestled beneath swaying palm trees, it features dining tables and outdoor fire pits where guests gather for drinks and conversation as the ocean breeze cools down the evening.

Race-Week Speedway Strategy
Staying in Daytona Beach Shores during NASCAR race week gives you the best of both worlds. The speedway area along International Speedway Boulevard gets jammed with race traffic on qualifying days and race nights.
By staying out on the barrier island in Daytona Beach Shores, we had a quiet, relaxing base right on the ocean. On race days, taking US-92 / International Speedway Boulevard across the bridge took only 15 minutes to reach the track gates. After the checkered flag, leaving the speedway and driving back east across the river brought us right back to peace and quiet on the ocean.
Final Thoughts
The Delta Hotels Daytona Beach Oceanfront was a standout discovery for us. The combination of guaranteed oceanfront balconies, easy beach access, a great pool deck with fire pits, and straightforward Florida hospitality makes it a place we definitely want to revisit.
