Ambassador Elite Folio Verdict
"A mountaintop Sonoran Desert oasis above Fountain Hills with panoramic valley views, dark-sky stargazing, and outdoor dining at CIELO."
Executive Summary & Field Verdict
Following an intense, high-energy weekend at Phoenix Raceway for the 2022 NASCAR Championship races in Avondale, Maureen and I headed northeast into the desert foothills to unwind for two nights at ADERO Scottsdale Resort, Autograph Collection.
After days spent in the noise of the garage and the pits, pulling up to ADERO felt like entering another world. The resort is perched high on a canyon ridge in Fountain Hills at 2,500 feet elevation, looking straight out across the McDowell Mountain Regional Park and the Sonoran Desert.
As I shared on Facebook when we checked out on November 9:
“That was too short … Our last 2 nights at The Adero Hotel in Scottsdale were fantastic”
The heated outdoor pool at ADERO Scottsdale, framed by orange umbrellas and panoramic mountain views.
ADERO is an exceptional retreat for road warriors who need to reset after a demanding project or race weekend. Between the crisp mountain air, the quiet desert mornings, and dinner under the stars at CIELO, two nights here was definitely too short.

Resort Architecture & Desert Landscape
The architectural design at ADERO respects its natural surroundings. The main resort building and guest wings feature clean, low-slung desert-modern lines in soft white and earth tones, curving gently along the contours of the mountain ridge.
The white curved architecture of ADERO Scottsdale framed by manicured turf and desert flora.
Walking the pathways between the buildings gives you an authentic feel for the high desert. Towering native saguaro cacti, blooming agaves, and fragrant desert shrubs line the gravel beds.

From our private balcony, the view was framed by blooming yellow lantana bushes and desert mesquite trees, with the rocky slopes of the McDowell Mountains rising up immediately behind the resort.

Panoramic Views & The Fountain Hills Landmark
One of the great highlights of staying at ADERO is the vantage point over the entire valley. In the distance down in the center of town, you can spot the famous Fountain Hills fountain shooting its giant column of water hundreds of feet into the sky.

During the day, the light plays across the ridges of the desert mountains, illuminating every canyon and saguaro forest for miles around.

Sunset, Dark Sky Stargazing & The CIELO Terrace
Because Fountain Hills is a certified International Dark Sky Community, evening at ADERO is something special. As golden hour approaches, the setting sun casts a warm pink and amber glow across the Red Rock ridgelines.
Sunset painting the Sonoran desert peaks in warm amber and rose tones.
Twilight settling over the desert horizon as the heat dissipates into cool mountain air.
For dinner, we ate outside on the terrace at CIELO, the resort’s signature restaurant. The outdoor dining setup features turf lawns, marble-topped tables, overhead bistro string lights, and patio heaters to keep you comfortable as desert temperatures drop after sunset.
The CIELO outdoor patio lawn set up for evening dining with string lights and mountain views.
Sitting out on the terrace with a cocktail, looking out over the twinkling lights of the valley below while constellations fill the sky above, is what makes ADERO memorable.

Final Thoughts
Our two nights at ADERO Scottsdale Resort were the ideal post-race decompression. The property combines genuine Autograph Collection character with the quiet majesty of the Sonoran Desert.
Whether you are in town for NASCAR at Phoenix Raceway, a track day, or simply exploring the greater Phoenix area, escaping up to this mountain ridge will reward you every time. We cannot wait to return for a longer stay.
