We weren’t expecting to be invited to the hotel’s Grand Opening Party, but as Marriott Ambassador Elite members checking in for an overnight layover, we received a surprise personal invitation to the evening’s festivities!
We booked a night at the hotel because we had an early, 12-hour non-stop flight to Oahu, Hawaii the following morning to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary.
The Marriott New York JFK Airport and the Residence Inn by Marriott New York JFK Airport are new properties sharing a common campus close to John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, NY. Originally scheduled to open in 2020, the Residence Inn opened in November 2023, followed by the Marriott opening in early 2024.
We stayed at the Residence Inn in December and at the Marriott for this transit stay. These are two fantastic, modern hotel additions right in the JFK airport perimeter.
We arrived around 5:00 PM and the lobby was buzzing with energy. At check-in, the front desk team informed us that the evening was the official grand opening celebration of both properties and extended a VIP invitation.
What a great night it was: delicious culinary stations, handcrafted cocktails, live music, commemorative giveaways, and an opportunity to meet the property management and operational leadership team.
